TDCA Bonfire and Fireworks
This really is a fun event for all ages, since it began in 1987 it has increased in size and popularity as the years have progressed.
The event relies on a stalwart collection of volunteers, who year-in-year-out put in a considerable amount of their free time to collect wood and assemble an impressive bonfire that entertains and lasts the whole evening. One of the perhaps less glamorous, but absolutely essential jobs is the erection of a roped off safety barrier to maintain a safe distance between the public and the bonfire.
The bonfire is officially lit by our Tideswell Wakes Queen at 7pm, and is then carefully maintained again by volunteers. Once again, the health and safety of our visitors is of paramount importance and is maintained throughout.
For a relatively small village, Tideswell Bonfire and Firework night attracts a decent number of visitors. Locals and visitors come to the event to enjoy the bonfire, and an impressively large firework display.
Visitors can keep warm inside at least inside, with the help of lashings of hot food offerings, including Gibby's burgers and sausages, yummy homemade soup. Soft drinks and home-made cakes are also on offer, well, you have to don't you?
NB: Vegetarian alternatives are always provided.
Since the inception of this event, our intrepid volunteer local firework team have planned, set out and triggered the display. Thank you chaps!
2017 marked a change, as we decided that it was time to hand over to a professional firework display company.
Bonfire & Fireworks 2018
Our Bonfire and Fireworks event for 2018 will be held on Saturday the 3rd of November at Bishop Pursglove School.
